birth
During your labour, my role as your doula is to provide emotional support, physical comfort measures and non medical advice with an objective viewpoint. From the moment I arrive, it is my job to stay with you, guide you and provide continuous support to you and your partner in whatever way you need. This can look very different for each woman but drawing on our antenatal sessions and your birth plan I will be there with the sole aim to make your birth experience as positive as possible - whether you have a home or hospital birth, an induction or a cesarean, with pain relief or without. While your partner will provide you with essential support, I will also be able to fill in their gaps in knowledge about labour and birth and give them support too.
I will be on call from 10 days before your due date, up until the birth. I am available during this time over WhatsApp to update me on how you are feeling and following any appointments. Following the birth I will stay during your ‘Golden Hour’ to make sure you feel protected and comfortable during this time - including help with feeding. Then I will visit you postnatally for 2 hours to give you a chance to debrief your birth, we can discuss feeding or any other post natal doula support you need (see Postnatal page for more information about this can include). Between the birth and your postnatal visit, I’m very happy to message over WhatsApp about anything you want to discuss or any concerns.
